Syrians Await Announcements on Political Reforms

Expectations that the Syrian President will lift the State of Emergency, which is in place since 1963 and is seen by many as the single most serious impediment to the rule of law in the country, have risen following statements by Bouthaina Shaaban, the media adviser to the President.
