Syria Introduces New Customs Law, Modernising Administration and Strengthening Anti-Smuggling Operations
Syrian Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa issued Decree No. 109 of 2026 enacting a new Customs Law. The text focuses on modernising the customs administration to ensure a smoother processing. It also defines the operation framework for freezones and grants customs officers more power – including the use of weapons – to combat smuggling.
