Shibani’s Political Affairs Department Puts Baath Assets on the Market, Amidst Procurement Centralisation

The General Secretariat for Political Affairs (GSPA), a hazy institution established by the Syrian authorities weeks after the fall of the Assad regime, has recently announced several tenders putting up for investment assets it seized from the former ruling Baath Party and the associated political parties, all of which were dissolved in January. The Baath Party is believed to own dozens of prime real estate properties across the country and if the GSPA manages to make efficient use of them, it would provide it with significant revenues granting it some form of financial autonomy.
