Government Fires Head of State Daily for Voicing Discontent at Behaviour of Security Forces

Samira Al-Masalmeh, the editor-in-chief of Tishreen, a state-owned daily, was fired after making critical comments on the behaviour of Syria’s security forces, becoming the first senior civil servant to be dismissed for expressing dissent on the handling by the authorities of the protests gripping the country.
